We are a third generation family business.

In 1935 Stan Pollitt undertook an apprenticeship in Yorkshire specialising in gilding, sign writing, painting and decorating, and worked in many fine Yorkshire houses.

In the early 1960s, he relocated to Hereford to take up a teaching post at the Technical College.

Today Stan is still very much part of the team but in a more advisory capacity.

Chris Bishop (Stan’s daughter) has worked along side her father for many years and in 1989 established her own workshop in Market Drayton, Shropshire.

Kate Williams (Chris’ daughter) who had been ‘forced’ to help through teenage years, and then later on a voluntary basis, obtained a BSc (Hons) and then completed some formal gilding training and in 2005 officially joined Colyton House Gilding workshop.
